Village of Ruidoso Employees Honored for Dedication and Excellence in Emergency Management and Public Safety

The Village of Ruidoso is proud to announce that two of its dedicated employees, Eric Queller and Ashlie Carabajal, have received statewide recognition and awards for their exemplary contributions to emergency management and public safety and their continued dedication to our community. Their unwavering commitment and exceptional leadership during some of the most challenging times in Ruidoso’s history have set a remarkable standard for service in our community.

Eric Queller: Emergency Manager of the Year

Eric Queller, VOR Emergency Manager, has been named the 2024 Emergency Manager of the Year at the New Mexico Emergency Management Conference and Expo. This distinguished award recognizes Eric’s outstanding leadership during the challenging South Fork and Salt fires and the subsequent flood events that impacted our community. His tireless efforts and exceptional coordination played a crucial role in protecting lives and property during these unprecedented disasters.

Eric’s dedication and skill have set a benchmark for emergency management across the state. His recognition as Emergency Manager of the Year is a testament to his commitment to keeping Ruidoso safe, no matter the challenges faced.

Ashlie Carabajal: Floodplain Manager of the Year

Ashlie Carabajal, Floodplain Manager for VOR, has been honored as the 2024 Floodplain Manager of the Year at the New Mexico Floodplain Managers Conference. This accolade celebrates Ashlie’s exceptional service in safeguarding the community’s public safety, particularly through her integral role at the Emergency Operations Center during the South Fork and Salt fires.

Ashlie’s expertise in GIS technology and floodplain management was critical in navigating the complex aftermath of these disasters, ensuring that recovery efforts were efficient and effective. Her dedication to going above and beyond for the residents of Ruidoso reflects her unwavering commitment to excellence.
