Village of Ruidoso to Host 2025 New Mexico Municipal League Annual Conference

67th Annual New Mexico Municipal League Conference: Clovis Takes the Stage

The 67th Annual New Mexico Municipal League (NMML) Conference took place from August 13 to 16 in Clovis, NM. It brought together municipal leaders and officials from across the state to engage in workshops, network, and conduct League business.

2025 Conference Announcement

A major highlight of this year's conference was the announcement that the Village of Ruidoso will host the 2025 NMML Annual Conference. The event is scheduled for September 9-12, 2025, at the Ruidoso Convention Center. Attendees from across New Mexico are expected to gather in Ruidoso for a series of workshops, meetings with subsection groups, and networking opportunities, all set against the scenic backdrop of the village.

Community Engagement in Clovis

Continuing its tradition of community support, the NMML selected a local project in Clovis to back during the conference. This year, the Salvation Army Social Services was chosen for its remarkable contributions to the Clovis community. Municipal leaders from across the state volunteered in various activities, including:

  • Preparing bags of food for citizens on pantry distribution days

  • Sorting toys and clothes for the Christmas outreach program

  • Organizing the craft and birthday room

  • Assisting with painting and yard work at the Salvation Army building

These efforts exemplify the NMML’s commitment to positively impacting each host community.

Engaging Keynotes and Workshops

Conference attendees were treated to a keynote address by Paul Mellor on "Memory Power," where he impressed the crowd with his ability to recall numbers and words. The event also featured workshops focusing on critical issues like long-term planning, near-term actions for water security, and strategies for supporting housing development in local communities. Devin Henderson closed the conference with his inspiring presentation, "Something Greater is Always Possible," leaving participants with a sense of optimism and possibility.

As the NMML looks forward to next year’s event, the 67th Annual Conference in Clovis will be remembered for its valuable contributions to municipal leadership, community engagement, and collaborative spirit.
